Happy new year? Eh Whatever.

I remember when I was a kid, my mom would get all glammed up and go out for the night. My dad never went, but my mom did. I used to love watching her get ready, watch her wiggle into whatever she decided to wear that night. Either some slinky dress, or once into skin tight capri's with the most delicous row of rhinestones going down the sides of her legs. She'd pull her hair out of her rollers, put on more makeup than she usually would, and then put on earrings the size of a baby's head. She spritz on her perfume, and she was the picture of 80's glam. She reeked of cool style, and would have fit right in on the set of Dynasty. I remember thinkikng I couldn't WAIT until I was old enough to go out on New Years Eve. I couldn't wait to danceto great music, and toast at midnight, while balloons floated down, and glitter caught caught in my hair.
I have yet to experience that. I don't even think there are even places that do that anymore. Our New years eve always consists of sitting at a friends house, while my husband gets drunk with his pals, and the wives are all a little pissy because they can't drink. Eye rolling amongst us hens start around 10 pm , at 12 we don't get kissed and by 12:15 we're dragging our men to the car amongst pleas of "Aw come on ONE more cigarette/beer/video game. Tbey;re like children really.
Mostly though I think "Wow another year wasted. Another year with not knowing what I am supposed to be doing with my life. Looking forward to another of not knowing what my purpose is in this world."
So, yeah, I'm a little bummed today. I want to do somethng with my writiing. I dont know what. Do I go to school, get a degree? Maybe I'm fooling myself, maybe I just suck as a writer. I just saw another orble blog thta started the same time as I did that is WAY more popular than mine. It makes me sad.
I didn't expect stardom, or even a lot of money, but I did expect more.
Happy New year to all of you. Hoping the New year finds you less confused than it finds me.

i've just found you, you have a kick-ass style .. and i love it... be not discouraged.. i want to hear more about the pissy women. i so laughed when i read that... whatever indeed.. maybe the pessimism in me that forever raises its big fat head, but does the turning of the clock really change anything? .. well many will wake up today minus a few billion brain cells...

On NYE, do what me and my friend did this year. My hubby was on call so he couldn't drink and my friend's hubby was driving so we were the ones who got drunk, not the boys! LOL.
